There is honestly nothing like the bond between a girl and her horse. When Natalie told me she wanted her senior portraits to be all about her and her horse, Zoomer, I was so stoked. Zoomer is such a huge part of her life, and she really wanted a session that felt laid-back and casual rather than stiff or super posed. We spent the morning hanging out, capturing those sweet, candid moments—like Zoomer nudging her for treats or Natalie just leaning against him. It didn’t feel like a formal "photoshoot"; it just felt like a girl spending time with her best friend, which made the photos turn out so much more authentic and special.
As a photographer, these are the kinds of sessions that keep me inspired. I absolutely love senior portraits because they’re so incredibly personal. This is such a big milestone, and I don't think your photos should look like everyone else's—they should actually look like you. Whether it’s bringing along your horse, your favorite instrument, or just picking a spot that means something to you, those details are what make these galleries so fun to create. I'm all about that documentary-style approach, using natural light and deep colors to capture the real energy of this season of life. Seeing a senior feel totally at ease because they have their favorite animal by their side is exactly why I love planning out each session thoughtfully and with a unique plan.
If you’re a senior here in the Pacific Northwest and you’re looking for a session that’s more about your personality and less about awkward posing, I’d love to chat! Whether we’re heading to the beach, a field, or your own barn, let's make sure your senior photos actually feel like a celebration of who you are right now. These years fly by, and you deserve a gallery that you'll actually want to look back on forever. Fill out a contract form and let’s start planning your custom session!
