Looking for a senior photographer in Kitsap County? Whether you're dreaming of photos by the water, in an open field, or somewhere that feels uniquely you, here's everything you need to know before your senior session.
Senior year is such an exciting season of life.
It's a year full of milestones, big decisions, and the anticipation of what comes next. Your senior photos should celebrate exactly who you are during this chapter—not just what you look like.
When I was a senior in high school, I honestly wasn't very excited about having my senior pictures taken. I remember feeling awkward and wondering how I was supposed to pose naturally in front of a camera. But my photographer made the entire experience so relaxed and fun that by the end of the session, I was genuinely enjoying myself. When I received my gallery, I couldn't believe those photos were actually me.
That experience has stayed with me all these years.
It's one of the biggest reasons I photograph seniors the way I do today.
My goal isn't just to create beautiful images. I want you to leave your session feeling confident, relaxed, and excited—not relieved that it's over.
One of the questions I get asked most is when to schedule senior photos.
In Washington, my favorite months are late summer through early fall. The weather is usually beautiful, the evenings are warm, and everything from the beaches to the forests looks incredible.
If you're hoping for senior pictures before yearbook deadlines or before school gets busy, I recommend reaching out as early as possible. Booking ahead also gives us the best chance of choosing the perfect date and location.
Most of my sessions take place during sunset because the light is soft, warm, and incredibly flattering. Every once in a while we'll plan a sunrise session if it fits the location or your vision, but sunset is where the Pacific Northwest really shines.
One thing that's really important to me is making sure you feel comfortable before your session even begins.
I love meeting seniors (and parents if they'd like to come!) for coffee beforehand. It's a chance for us to get to know each other, talk through ideas, choose locations, and plan outfits together.
By the time your session arrives, we're not strangers anymore.
Instead of worrying about what to do with your hands or wondering if you're "doing it right," you can simply enjoy the experience.
Those relaxed moments are almost always where the best photographs happen.
One of my favorite parts of planning senior sessions is finding a location that feels like you.
Someone who loves the beach might feel completely at home by the water, while another senior might picture themselves surrounded by towering evergreens, open fields, or mountain views.
While I have several favorite locations throughout Kitsap County, I'm always excited to explore somewhere new. One of the things I love most about being a photographer is discovering beautiful places that make each session feel unique. If you've been dreaming of senior photos somewhere a little more adventurous, I'd love to help make that happen!
Some Washington locations I'm especially excited to photograph more senior sessions at include Ruby Beach, Hurricane Ridge, Lake Crescent, Mount Rainier National Park, Artist Point, Gold Creek Pond, Deception Pass State Park, Cape Flattery, Diablo Lake, Rattlesnake Lake, Leavenworth, and the wildflower fields around Mount Baker. Washington is filled with incredible scenery, and I'd love to create a session somewhere that's meaningful to you.
Of course, if you already have a favorite place in mind—whether it's a family property, your favorite hiking trail, or somewhere you've always loved—I'm always excited to explore new locations together.
Some of my favorite senior photo locations in Kitsap County include:
Point No Point is perfect if you love coastal views, driftwood, and soft sunsets. It offers so much variety in one location and always photographs beautifully.
If you're looking for a classic Pacific Northwest feel, Indianola Pier is one of my favorites. Between the long dock, waterfront views, and peaceful atmosphere, it's a timeless location for senior portraits.
Buck Lake is one of my favorite locations for seniors who love nature and want a peaceful, outdoorsy feel. The mix of trees, and quiet surroundings creates so much variety without ever feeling crowded.
If you're dreaming of a fall senior session, Buck Lake is especially beautiful. As the seasons change, colorful leaves blanket the ground, adding rich warm tones and that cozy Pacific Northwest feeling that photographs so beautifully. It's the perfect location for seniors who want timeless portraits with a little bit of autumn magic.
Howe Farm Park is a beautiful location for seniors who love a natural, rustic setting. The open fields, beautiful trees, and charming red barn create a timeless backdrop with plenty of variety. It's peaceful, relaxed, and photographs beautifully throughout the year
Outfits make a much bigger difference than most people realize.
The good news is—you don't have to figure it out on your own.
I help every senior plan their outfits before their session because thoughtful wardrobe choices make such a huge difference in the final gallery.
My biggest advice?
Wear something that feels like you.
If you don't feel comfortable in what you're wearing, it will show in your photos.
I also love timeless clothing because it allows your personality to be the focus. Neutral colors, simple textures, and classic pieces tend to photograph beautifully and won't feel dated years from now.
For most sessions, I recommend bringing two outfits.
One can be a little dressier while the other feels more casual and relaxed. That combination gives your gallery lots of variety while still feeling cohesive.
While two outfits are my recommendation, there's no rule that says you have to stop there! If you have another outfit you absolutely love, bring it along. If time allows, we'll have fun with it and create even more variety.
I know every senior is different.
Some feel more confident with a parent nearby, while others enjoy having a little independence during the session.
Either way is completely okay with me.
My goal is simply to create an environment where you feel comfortable, relaxed, and free to be yourself.
No two seniors are exactly alike, and I don't believe their photos should be either.
From choosing a location that feels like you to planning outfits, incorporating your hobbies, or simply creating a relaxed atmosphere where your personality can shine, every session is personalized to tell your story. Whether you picture yourself by the water, surrounded by trees, or somewhere completely unique, we'll create a session that feels true to who you are.
Years from now, these photographs won't just remind you what you looked like.
They'll remind you of who you were.
The excitement.
The anticipation.
The dreams you had before stepping into your next chapter.
That's why I love photographing seniors.
These moments go by so quickly, and it's such an honor to preserve them in a way that feels genuine, joyful, and timeless.
If you're looking for a Kitsap County senior photographer who will help you every step of the way—from choosing outfits to finding the perfect location—I would love to create something meaningful together.
This season only happens once—let's make it unforgettable.
